A panel upgrade is the fix when you're out of breaker space, the panel is a known-hazard brand, or the service simply can't carry what the house now runs.
Overview
Signs it's time: breakers that trip with normal use, a panel with no open slots, double-tapped breakers, scorch marks or a burning smell, or an insurance company asking questions. Phoenix homes built through the 1970s often still have panels from manufacturers whose breakers are documented to fail to trip — those get replaced, not repaired.
The work is a permitted job with a power shutoff, usually a single day. We handle the APS/SRP coordination, the permit, and the inspection, and we label every circuit properly when we're done.

Most panel upgrades start around $3,500 and go up from there. The final number depends on the complexity of the job — the condition and location of your existing service, how much of the wiring has to be reworked, and the panel and breakers your home actually needs — along with city building code requirements and your utility's guidelines for the disconnect and reconnect. That is why we don't quote a panel over the phone: we look at what is there, then give you one written price that holds. Estimates are free.
