The first question is always capacity, not brand. A charger is one of the largest continuous loads in a house, so we run a load calculation on your existing service before quoting. Plenty of Phoenix homes on 100A service need a panel or service upgrade before a charger can be added safely — better to hear that up front than after someone has already sold you an install.
Hardwired or plug-in: a hardwired unit is generally the more robust install and is required for some higher-output chargers, while a NEMA 14-50 receptacle gives you flexibility to swap the unit or take it with you. We'll tell you which makes sense for your car, your panel, and where the unit is going.
We pull the permit and meet the inspector. An EV circuit is inspected work, and an uninspected one becomes your problem when you sell the house or file an insurance claim.
Commercial charging is a different animal — more stations, more load, and usually a service upgrade in front of it. We did exactly that at a DoorDash facility, including a 400A service and the charging infrastructure for their delivery robots.
