FAQ
Yes. B and D Electric LLC holds Arizona Registrar of Contractors license ROC 361086, and it is active. You can verify it yourself on the ROC contractor search — the number is linked in the footer of every page on this site. Never hire an electrician in Arizona who won't give you a license number to check.
Yes. We carry $1,000,000 per occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate general liability insurance through Clear Spring Property & Casualty, and we are bonded through RLI Surety. We will email the certificate of insurance to you or your HOA, property manager or general contractor on request.
Our own people. B and D Electric is family-run with two owners and over 40 years of combined electrical experience between them, and we do not farm work out to subcontractors.
B and D Electric LLC is rated 5.0 stars on Google. Every review shown on this site is a real Google review, quoted from the customer.
Yes. Tell us the type of job — panel upgrade, EV charger, commercial tenant improvement, new construction — and we'll put you in touch with recent customers on that same kind of work, plus photos.
FAQ
No. Estimates are free, and we give them in writing after we have actually looked at the job. We don't quote big electrical work sight-unseen over the phone, because the number would be fiction.
We publish a starting point where it is honest to do so — 200A panel swaps run from about $3,500 to $10,000 and 400A upgrades start around $12,000 — but beyond that, electrical pricing depends on what's behind the wall: the age and condition of the service, panel brand and availability, how far a new circuit has to run, attic access, whether the utility has to be involved, and what the city requires on the permit. Two houses on the same street can differ by thousands. We'd rather look, then give you one written number that holds.
Same-day for emergencies in most of the Valley, and usually within a couple of days for scheduled work. We're reachable 24/7 at (480) 828-1181 — call for anything urgent instead of using the form.
A burning smell, scorch marks or melted plastic at a panel, outlet or switch; sparking; buzzing or hot breakers; exposed or damaged conductors; water in a panel; a partial power loss where half the house is dead (often a failing main or a lost neutral, which can damage appliances); or a business that can't operate. Turn off the affected circuit if you safely can, then call.
Yes. We're listed as open 24 hours, and we routinely schedule commercial work after hours so a store, restaurant or office doesn't have to close during business hours.
FAQ
Yes, on any work that requires one, and we attend the inspection. Panel and service upgrades, new circuits for EV chargers, remodels and new construction are normally permitted work in Phoenix and the surrounding cities.
Unpermitted electrical work follows the house. It surfaces during a sale or appraisal, it can be used to deny an insurance claim after a fire, and it leaves nobody on record as having verified the work. A permit and a passed inspection is the cheapest documentation you will ever buy.
Yes — that's a regular job for us. Send us a photo of the correction notice or the inspector's list and we'll tell you what it actually takes to clear it, then do the corrections and meet the inspector.
Yes. We correct the work to current code, then permit and inspect it so it's documented properly.
Usually somebody needs to provide access. We coordinate the appointment window with you and meet the inspector on site so you're not the one answering code questions.
FAQ
Common signs: breakers that trip repeatedly on a normal load, a fuse panel, a panel with no room left, rust or water staining, scorch marks or a hot cover, aluminum branch wiring at the breakers, or an obsolete brand with known failure history. If your panel is original to a 1960s-1980s Phoenix home, it is worth an inspection regardless.
A 200A panel swap starts around $3,500 and can run to around $10,000. A 400A service upgrade starts around $12,000 and can go much higher, and includes stamped engineered plans when required, permit fees, materials and utility coordination from start to finish. The final number depends on the complexity of the job — the condition and location of your existing service, how much of the wiring has to be reworked, and the panel and breakers your home actually needs — along with city building code requirements and your utility's guidelines for the disconnect and reconnect. That is why we do not quote a panel over the phone: we look at what is there, then give you one written price that holds. Estimates are free.
We handle the utility coordination on service work: the disconnect, the reconnect and the paperwork that goes with it. The utility's own review and scheduling is the part nobody controls, so we tell you honestly where it stands instead of promising a date the utility hasn't given us.
The changeover itself is normally a single working day with the power off during that window. The overall project length depends on permitting and on when the utility can disconnect and reconnect.
Sometimes, and it's decided by a load calculation — not a guess. We calculate the existing load against the new equipment. Plenty of homes take a 48A charger on the existing service; plenty of others need the service upgraded first, and finding that out before you buy equipment saves money.
For most homes, yes. Monsoon-season surges and utility switching events are what kill HVAC boards, well and pool equipment, and anything with a circuit board in it. A whole-home unit installed at the panel is inexpensive relative to one HVAC control board.
FAQ
Phoenix and the surrounding Valley: Central Phoenix, North Phoenix, the Biltmore area, Ahwatukee, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Tempe, Chandler, Mesa, Gilbert, Glendale, Peoria and Fountain Hills.
Both. Commercial is a core part of what we do — tenant improvements, service and panel upgrades, lighting retrofits, code corrections, and new construction from temp power through final inspection. We've worked as the electrical sub on high-rise and resort-style projects in the Biltmore corridor.
Yes, and it's careful work. Central Phoenix and the historic districts still have two-prong outlets, aluminum branch circuits and panels well past their service life. We repair and replace in stages when a full rewire isn't in the budget, and we tell you which parts are a safety issue now.
Yes. We provide license and insurance documents, certificates of insurance naming the required parties, and scheduling that fits building access rules — normal for Biltmore-area condos and commercial buildings.
Yes. Our standard warranty is 1 year on parts and labor. That's the industry standard, and it's what our written quotes say. It covers our workmanship and the materials we supply. The only time the term is longer is when the job's contract or specs call for it. That's common on commercial, builder and general contractor work. When that happens, the longer term is written into your quote before you sign. Manufacturer warranties on the equipment we install (panels, breakers, EV chargers, fixtures) are separate, and we pass them on to you. Some of those last longer than our 1 year. Repairs to systems we didn't install, materials the customer supplies, and temporary fixes done at the customer's request may carry different terms. If so, it's spelled out on your quote. If something we installed fails within the warranty period, call (480) 828-1181 and we'll come back out and make it right.
Call (480) 828-1181 and ask for the owner. Our work is covered by our license, our insurance and whatever warranty is stated in your written estimate — and we'd rather come back and fix it than have you write about it.
